Few people know this, but Renee Zellweger starred in the most overlooked entry in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, right before she established herself as one of the best actresses of her generation. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation takes place after Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and only briefly touches the events that happened in the previous sequels. After the third movie's bad reception, 1995's The Next Generation was also unanimously destroyed by the critics, bringing the franchise to a halt: the next movie came out eight years later and ended up being a remake, telling the story of Leatherface and his family from a fresh start.
