Star Wars Has Finally Explained Why Jedi & Sith Developed Different Lightsaber Forms

New additions to the Star Wars continuity have helped explain how and why lightsaber forms were developed in the galaxy far, far away. As confirmed in both the official canon and in the past non-canon material known as Legends, there are many different ways in which a lightsaber can be wielded. Now, it's recently been suggested that there's a very practical reason for all these various forms beyond mere preference, both for the Jedi Knights serving as guardians of peace and justice and the Sith Lords who sought power and control.
