Ridley Scott's recent movies haven't seen much success at the box office, but the upcoming Gladiator 2 promises to make more money than the director's last five projects combined. A sequel to 2000's Gladiator is long overdue, and given the original film's massive success, it's somewhat surprising a follow-up hasn't happened sooner. Gladiator made $503 million at the worldwide box office, including re-releases, (via Box Office Mojo), and it went on to receive the Best Picture Oscar at the 73rd Academy Awards.
