Of all the shows on HBO Max, perhaps the most overlooked and underappreciated is a historical Western co-created by Ethan Hawke, who also stars in the lead role. For anyone who’s seen The Good Lord Bird, it’s frustrating to find that this brilliantly original miniseries is as little-known as John Brown’s historic role in the abolition of slavery.
